Urgent Need for Airline Tickets

Urgent Need!  We need to get to Seattle on Sunday night for a Monday morning  appointment with MJ's neurologist.  Does anybody have any frequent flier miles that they could donate?  This is came up very suddenly and we don't have the $600+ on such short notice.  MJ has been having seizures and we need to figure out why.  She had two yesterday and another today.  She also is in a great deal of pain and was crying very loudly today. It was heart breaking to see her suffering.  Miraculously her doctor has an appointment open on Monday.  If we cannot make the Monday appointment the next available appointment is next year!  Please if you have air miles consider donating them.  Thanks

Purchasing Insurance is NOT an option

I talked to Ellen who is one of Max Baucus' staffers on the Finance Committee who works in DC. She was very helpful. As of October 1st insurers can no longer exempt pre-existing conditions on medical insurance policies. That should mean that we can purchase private pay insurance for MJ for the first time in a very long time. I asked Ellen to find out where we could purchase a policy.

YES - I do know that we are asking a company to pay for a operation after the fact. However, it is the insurance companies and the medical industry that put MJ in this impossible position. We have done everything possible to do everything right for MJ to get her health care she needs. It is time for the medical system to act responsibly and stop giving excuses why she cannot be helped!

Ellen looked into a policy for MJ. What she found was that there is no policy that we can purchase that would cover the surgery. Because it is "Out of Network" care no policy would come close to covering the surgery. The best would be 50% and would be very expensive to get. She told me that she did not believe that private pay insurance was an option for MJ. She and another staffer brainstormed the issue and could no come up with any options.
